About this piece
The ten avatars of Vishnu — Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Rama, Krishna, Buddha and Kalki — each in its own ornate arch frame. The Dashavatar sequence is one of the most frequently depicted narratives in Indian temple art, and having each avatar framed separately means the set can be hung in narrative order.
Where it works
Ten plaques at 5.5″ × 6″ each, 6 kg for the full set. The obvious arrangement is a single horizontal row in avatar order, which needs roughly five feet of wall; a two-row block of five works where the wall is shorter. Ships in a wooden crate.
Finish and care
Supplied in your choice of Natural or Antique. Natural leaves the brass bright and it will mellow with age; Antique is darkened into the recesses so the detailing reads more sharply from a distance. Clean with a soft dry cotton cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or metal polishing liquids.
