About this piece
An ornate low stool with jali work across the top and decorative legs — the pierced-lattice technique that lets light through the surface. In Indian homes this form is the chowki, the low platform an idol is raised onto rather than set flat.
Where it works
10″ × 10″ × 4.3″ at 4.3 kg. Its most common use is as a chowki under an idol in a puja space, but the square top and low height make it equally usable as a plant stand or as a riser that gives a small object some height on a console.
Finish and care
Supplied in your choice of Natural or Antique. Natural leaves the brass bright and it will mellow with age; Antique is darkened into the recesses so the detailing reads more sharply from a distance. Clean with a soft dry cotton cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or metal polishing liquids.
